Mug Making: Handcrafting Ceramics Without a Wheel with Jonathan Dazo

Craft a pair of mugs from scratch—no pottery wheel needed!

Description: Participants will create up to two ceramic, 3 x 5-inch mugs. Textured rollers will be used to give mugs an embossed surface with extra depth.

Difficulty Level: Beginner. Participants should have steady hand eye coordination, be able to control hand pressure and handle 1lb weight with ease.

Youth Participants: 13+

Additional Information: Following the workshop, mugs will be finished by the instructor which includes kiln firing and applying a clear gloss glaze to render the bowls stable and food safe. Bowls will then be available for pickup at the Berea Gallery and Event Center or shipped for a flat fee of $20.00.

Notes: Please bring a hand towel and dress knowing you may get mildly dirty. Hand lotion may be desired as clay tends to dry skin. All tools and materials provided, and materials used are non-toxic and non-staining.
