8th Annual Geocaching Weekend

The Berea Chamber of Commerce hosts their annual 8th Annual Geocaching Weekend (3rd weekend of October each year) where new geocaches are launched onto their Official Geocaching.com GeoTour. This events draws people from across the USA (and from around the world) to enjoy a weekend of outdoor adventure fun in scavenger hunt style – that is free and family friendly.

The geocaches are permanent containers and this event is the grand launch event each year. You’ll have an opportunity to meet other geocachers too. The geocaches on this GeoTour are available year-round and range from beginner to advanced levels of difficulties, but fairly easy terrains (so all can enjoy). If you love a good physical challenge, don’t let the easy terrains fool you, the cache may be placed where it’s an easier terrain, but the site may lead you to a more challenging location if you pursue beyond the cache location. Let these geocaches take you to places that a tour bus can’t (and typically only places our locals know about). Go it solo, or bring family and friends, but don’t miss out on the fun! This activity is available 24/7/365, so come back again and again, to enjoy Berea year-round.

There are four separate events during the weekend you can log:
(1) Friday night Meet & Greet and Official “Celebration Event”, 8-10pm (Berea City Park Shelter by Pool)
(2) Saturday Morning Geocaching, meet at 8:30am-9:30am (Berea Chamber office, 424 Chestnut St)
(3) Saturday Night Caching, meets at 6pm-7pm (Berea Artisan Center parking lot)
(4) Sunday morning CITO (cache in, trash out), 9am-10am (Pinnacles/Indian Fort parking lot)

The Berea Chamber offers 150 total geocaches year-round on their GeoTour that spans four counties, an Adventure Lab, an annual weekend of events, prizes, plus an amazing opportunity to meet new friends who love the outdoors and geocaching!
