Devonna Hisel
After moving to Jackson County, KY, I was taught by some of the best quilters in our county. In 2002 I was certified as a University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Master Clothing Volunteer and use my training to teach others the art of sewing. I am a teaching fiber artist with Partners for Education, a federally funded U.S. Department of Education program, administered through Berea College, a teaching artist on the KY Arts Council Directory of Teaching Artists and a teaching artist on the Arts for All teaching directory. I completed a Cultural Research Training program led by Bob Gates, former director of the Kentucky Folklife Program.
I currently serve on county 4-H advisory councils and have served on state advisory councils. I have used my experience and knowledge to teach children and adults on a local and state level. I also own Farm Girl Fancies, and do commissioned quilts and crafts.
