Get on this Workshop's Waiting List.
Workshop Instructor: Donna Smith

You don’t need to be able to draw to create spectacular gourd art. Come learn how in this hands-on workshop with gourd artist, Donna Smith. Participants will learn about different ways to decorate the surface of gourds including ink markers, pastels, watercolor, and acrylics. The instructor will provide different sizes and types of gourds and each participant will select the one they wish to decorate and the mediums they want to use. They will learn to clean the surface. If they wish to cut their gourd open to create a gourd vessel, the instructor will guide them through the process of cutting it and cleaning the interior. She will provide various designs that can be used as inspiration as well as ideas for abstract decorations, but participants are also encouraged to bring any design ideas of their own. She will be happy to help with creating the design or to act as a technical adviser, helping each participant achieve their own artistic vision of gourd art. She will also demonstrate how wood burning can be used as a decorative technique.
