Folk Songs of the Kentucky Mountains
Share
Workshop Instructor: Carla Gover

Carla grew up in Letcher County, Kentucky, as part of a musical family that sang for work, play, and worship. In this class, which is open to all levels of experience, she’ll share songs from her family and community, including the courting song, Sweet Fern, and the mountain gospel tune, Home In That Rock. If time allows, the class will also explore an a capella mountain ballad.

Students will also be emailed lyric sheets with Nashville numbers system chords, where applicable, so that after the course is over they can accompany themselves using the instruments and keys of their choice.
