SUMMARY:Become a Certified Stream Sampler
DESCRIPTION:HomeGrown HideAways is excited to join the Kentucky Watershed Watch network as a support hub (pending) and to host our first stream sampler training. \nThe first step to becoming a Watershed Watch volunteer sampler is to get certified. The certification process begins with introductory online training (modules 1-5) which must be completed before attending the in-person class:\nhttps://www.kywater.org/get-involved/get-certified-as-a-water-sampler/training-modules \nOnce you’ve completed the online modules 1-5 and quizzes\, you can arrange to attend an in-person workshop. Register to attend an upcoming workshop near you using this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfsCL9KOAlDHGR5grAsDhtFP3F8C0YxGc189JU5edx98PczGg/viewform \nTrained samplers are invited to participate in three annually coordinated sampling events\, during which they visit their chosen stream sites to collect monitoring data and submit it to the central database. These events take place in May\, July and September and samplers can complete their monitoring visit any time during those months. Samplers are also welcome to monitor their stream locations independently at any other time of the year. \nSamplers are encouraged to work with their nearest Support Hub to obtain needed supplies and equipment. Then\, travel through time to witness key events since the Big Bang that set the stage for life. Along the way\, you will see two scenarios for the dawn of life on early Earth and discover how our planet has changed since those microscopic beginnings. \n\n\n\nLocated in the Margaret A. Cargill (MAC) Natural Sciences and Health Building (34) on the 4th floor. Visitors can enter using the two doors located at the front of the building. Parking and location information is provided by the interactive campus maps.
