DESCRIPTION:Come join us each Saturday from 9:00-10:00 am at the Forestry Outreach Center for Forest Meditations!\nThis is an opportunity to connect with ourselves\, each other\, and the world. All are welcome! We will meet in the “Nature’s Classroom” gazebo. Bring your mats or cushions if you like. Chairs will be provided.\nWe will start with a short introduction to the sit\, meditate for about 20 minutes\, and then invite you to reflect on your experience in any way you wish. It could be through writing\, drawing or quiet contemplation. We would then welcome anyone who would like to share from their experience. We would love to have you linger afterwards for coffee and conversation.\nThis event is hosted by Berea College Forestry Outreach Center\, Wendy Zagray Warren\, Jane Mecham and Pat Gailey.

DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, April 18th\, 1PM-5PM at the Kentucky Artisan Center as we celebrate the opening of our traveling exhibition “From Function to Heritage: The Evolution of Appalachian Crafts.” Fiber artist Candance Mullins will be demonstrating\, and music will be provided by Michael Jon Flores! \nThe Kentucky Guild of Artists And Craftsmen\, in partnership with the Kentucky Craft History and Education Association (KCHEA)\, commemorate America 250 by honoring the theme “Power of Place.” The Guild returns to our roots and we’re taking Appalachian Craft on the road! Our story began aboard the “Guild Train” – a cultural caravan of demonstrations and exhibitions from town to town\, connecting communities through artistry\, tradition\, and cultural pride. From Function to Heritage explores how craft in Kentucky and Appalachia has moved from necessity to artistry while still carrying forward the same values that built the guild 65 years ago: skill\, stewardship\, community\, and cultural pride. This traveling exhibit is made possible by the Kentucky Artis Council (KAC) and Kentucky Historical Society’s America 250 initiative in exploring our shared history through art and connection to place.
