DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special presentation honoring the life and work of Kentucky folk artist\, writer\, farmer\, and stone mason Herbert Lee Clark (1934–2017). \nLou DeLuca\, longtime friend and editor of Clark’s writings\, will share a 30–40 minute PowerPoint presentation exploring: \nClark’s book Old Time Kentucky Farmsteading\, Ways and Means (Acclaim Press)\nHis wit and wisdom\, gathered from the traditions of his elders\nExamples of his remarkable stone masonry and folk architecture\nStories from their decades-long friendship in Harrisonville\, KY \nIllustrations in Clark’s book are by Joanne K. Guilfoil\, artist and former UK/EKU professor\, adding another layer of artistry to his legacy. \nThis event is both a tribute and a glimpse into Kentucky’s farming and folk traditions through the eyes of someone who lived them fully.

DESCRIPTION:As a kick-off event to our annual Celebration of Traditional Music\, the Ebony Hillbillies will present an evening of music.  Celebrated as the “Premier African American String Band in America”\, the Ebony Hillbillies are the only String band based in NYC keeping an almost forgotten American musical legacy alive. Consisting of fiddle\, banjo\, washboard\, and bass fiddle\, they have successfully created a following that bridges the gap of audiences in pop\, country\, bluegrass\, folk\, jazz\, blues\, and beyond.
