DESCRIPTION:The Berea College planetarium hosts shows twice a week in our large planetarium. The shows are open to the public and held every Friday at 7PM and Sunday at 4PM. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. You can check out https://planetarium.berea.edu to view the available shows and descriptions. \nLocated in the Margaret A. Cargill (MAC) Natural Sciences and Health Building (34) on the 4th floor. Visitors can enter using the two doors located at the front of the building. Parking and location information is provided by the interactive campus maps.

DESCRIPTION:Doors at 6:30pm. Concert at 7pm.\nThe inaugural Black Appalachian Storytellers Concert of Kentucky is set to captivate audiences on November 8\, 2024\, at 7:00 pm at Rebel Rebel in Berea\, KY. This one-of-a-kind event brings together an impressive lineup of storytellers\, musicians\, and cultural icons to honor and celebrate the rich heritage of Black Appalachians through powerful stories and songs. Tickets are $10\, and the concert is family-friendly\, welcoming all ages to share in this celebration of culture\, resilience\, and community.\nThe concert will showcase performances and presentations by Emily Jones Hudson\, Jess Mullins Fullen\, Symerdar & Rev. Andrew Baskin\, Aristotle Jones\, and Jim Embry. Providing rhythm and soul to the evening will be Thomas Usher on drums and percussion\, setting the tone with the talking of the drums. The evening promises a dynamic mix of oral storytelling\, music\, and personal narratives that connect the past\, present\, and future of Black Appalachia.\nJim Embry\, Aristotle Jones\, and Rev. Andrew Baskin are Fellows of the National Association of Black Storytellers’ Black Appalachian Storytellers Fellowship\, representing leaders in the cultural preservation and storytelling community. Their commitment to amplifying the voices and experiences of Black Appalachians has made a significant impact on both regional and national stages.\n“This concert is a chance to celebrate the voices and stories of Black Appalachians who have shaped and enriched our collective heritage\,” says event organizer Kelle Jolly.\nThis event is sponsored by Our Land of Promise\, an organization working to honor and preserve African American heritage in Berea\, KY.
