DESCRIPTION:Berea College presents the 51st annual Celebration of Traditional Music from October 10–October 13\, 2024\, celebrating home-made music as passed on from person to person in the Appalachian Region and the musicians who play it. Performers include: \nGuy Davis\, blues. Thursday night Stephenson Memorial concert\nShelia Kay Adams\, Appalachian ballads. Lifetime Achievement Award\nThe Alum Ridge Boys and Ashlee\, bluegrass and old time\nCarla Gover\, banjo\, song\, and dance\nAnne Lough\, dulcimer. L. Allen Smith performer\nDr. Kathy Bullock\, gospel\nRandy Wilson\, banjo and old time\nPhoebe White\, Western songs and yodeling\nKent Gilbert and the Union Church Shape Note Singers\nDance: The Alum Ridge Boys and Ashlee\, with West Virginia caller Lou Maiuri\nTed Olson\, symposium speaker on early recordings of Appalachian music \nEvents take place across the campus and include dancing\, jams\, workshops\, lectures\, dinner-on-the-grounds\, and a Saturday morning Kidzone at Woods Penn Commons with Heather Dent\, Lili Shelton\, and Randy Wilson. All events are free to students. Daytime events are free to all. Evening concerts are $10; the Saturday evening dance is $8. CTM is sponsored by the L. Allen Smith Memorial Fund\, directed by Elizabeth DiSavino\, and is planned and presented by the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center\, the CTM Committee\, the Berea College Music Department\, and the students of the Berea College Folk-Roots Ensemble. \nVirtual viewing will be available for events Friday night\, Saturday night\, and Sunday via the Berea College Music Department Livestream https://livestream.com/bereacollege. DESCRIPTION:The Berea College planetarium hosts shows twice a week in our large planetarium. The shows are open to the public and held every Friday at 7PM and Sunday at 4PM. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. You can check out https://planetarium.berea.edu to view the available shows and descriptions. \nLocated in the Margaret A. Cargill (MAC) Natural Sciences and Health Building (34) on the 4th floor. Visitors can enter using the two doors located at the front of the building. Parking and location information is provided by the interactive campus maps.
